Hey, friends! As your newest coach at Crossfit Gallatin, I wanted to take some time to introduce myself. I started doing Crossfit in high school with my mom and a few friends. While I’d participated in many different sports (literally everything from cheerleading to swimming) throughout school, I never found something I was passionate about pursuing. After graduating, I went on to get my degree in Public Relations from the University of Tennessee, and took a hiatus from Crossfit until 2017. Since then, I completely fell in love with the sport and the community that surrounded it.
When I joined Crossfit Gallatin, I felt at home with the community and the coaches. I started to gain strength and technique in all aspects of my physical fitness and made some pretty rad friends along the way. Since joining the gym, I was able to compete in a mock weighlifting meet and run a half-marathon! Crossfit Gallatin gave me the push to do things I’d always wanted to do, but never felt the confidence to pursue. I knew I wanted to be a bigger part of something so great! In February of this year, I obtained my CF-L1 certification and started to assistant coach classes at the gym. Due to COVID-19, I’ve not been able to dive into coaching like I originally thought, but I’m enjoying working with athletes remotely and encouraging them to get “quarantoned.”
Outside of the gym, I work full-time as a Social Media Director at an advertising agency and run a lifestyle blog at www.shelocke.com (check it out)! I like to spend my weekends being outside, hanging out with my dogs (and people too) and eating Mexican food. As of lately, I really miss restaurants in general!
I can’t wait to be back at the gym and see all of our athletes! If you’re new to Gallatin, interested in trying Crossfit or looking for a new home gym, feel free to give us a shout! Find me on Instagram at instagram.com/shelocke.
